Who We Serve

Students struggling with learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, school refusal, addiction, and other behavioral or mood disorders; transgender youth in need of support; adolescents navigating the post-high school transition; and young adults struggling to launch. Whether you’re seeking options in your neighborhood, virtual programming, or nationwide therapeutic placements, we work with a range of families.

Services

Newcastle Educational Consultants offers compassionate child, teen, or young adult-centered consulting through resource sharing, therapeutic program placements, and supportive parent coaching.

Hourly Consultation

Sometimes our kids are struggling, and we are unsure what to do. I can take the time to explain different options, including how to prioritize different treatment levels or ensure testing is being implemented in an IEP or 504 plan. When you don’t know what you don’t know, I can be a resource to help you feel more informed. Once you have the information you need to make better decisions, you will feel more confident to help your child live a healthier life - socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.

Specialized Guidance

A strong placement is about fit. I can take you beyond internet searches and guidebooks by sharing my experiences visiting programs and engaging with their staff and students. I am deeply committed to my ongoing professional development and stay abreast of the latest research regarding, for instance, supporting transgender youth or addressing childhood trauma. Engaged with professional networks, I meet weekly with a talented group of colleagues across the country. And, importantly, I am a mother who’s been here before and traversed similar paths with my family.

Advocacy

As a consultant, you (the parent) are my customer and your loved one is my client. I am here to be their advocate from start to finish. With a placement, I will be a member of your child's treatment team and a voice at the table with a singular focus: their best interest. I always think about what is next and how to help your children lead healthier lives.

Continuum of Care

I will be there to build and keep your loved one's momentum going. At every step of the way, I think about how we will take actionable steps to move your child and family toward a safer, healthier relationship. This happens through timely communication, creating a plan with their treatment team, and providing options for the present and the future.

Process

CONSULTATION: I begin by asking you to share your story with me. What has led you to reach out to me?

ROADMAP: After understanding your needs, I will speak with the professionals who have worked with your child, teen, or young adult and create a roadmap for appropriate next steps.

CHILD PLACEMENT: I will be sure to provide you with a list of appropriate treatment (or school) options that I have vetted and guide you as you do your due diligence.

KEEPING THE MOMENTUM: Internalizing change takes time. I will collaborate with you to keep the momentum going by thoughtfully discussing a transition plan for when your child is ready to move forward.

Consultation

We will discuss your family, your child's story, and what brought you to me. Whether you have specific questions in mind or don't know what to ask, I will use this time to equip you with the information you need to make the best decisions for your child. I serve elementary-aged children through adults. I can be a resource to help you feel more informed when unsure what to do about challenges facing you or your loved one. A consultation with me is whatever you need it to be.
